YOUR VOICE WILL CHANGE THE WORLD ORDER
Part 3, with special guest : Fluxus Artist Henning Christiansen.
Short Description :
Your World Order - A participatory coment on the world politic by PM.
Question to answer :
Who's making the decisions? What's your opinion? How do you want to challenge the decison makers? What would you like to change? What is your proposal for the future? What is your idea on the current world political situation?
How to do it :
You will be able to describe your view on the current political situation today on a podium. Instead of being the one-way-receiver, you will become "the decision maker". Your comment will be taped and broadcasted in the Emergency Room during the exhibition. Your personal ideas can be written on a painting on paper of a world map with a marker during the action. YOU ARE WELCOME!
PM are Caroline Lund und Thorbjorn Reuter Christiansen.

Sound piece, 20 sec. loop, endless:

Tanya Uri Fading into the Foreground
(http://www.tanyaury.com)

The photo series Fading into the Foreground (work in progress) consists chiefly of portraits or snapshots of civilians who wear camouflage design or other military-style fashion on the street, while going about their daily business.
For years it has been in vogue to wear the soldiers uniform as clothing, but the trend has been even more marked this year, 2006. More than 400 photographs have been taken for this artwork, in Cologne (D), Budapest (HU), London (GB) and Jerusalem (IL) – the series will be continued in Berlin (D), Ljublin (PL) and Boston (USA) etc.
For the Emergency Room project, along with a text, as commentary on the proposed controversial stationing of German marines along the Lebanese coast to function as a “peacekeeping” force with UNIFIL, I have selected 16 of the Fading into the Foreground images taken recently in Cologne and Jerusalem, of young Palestinians, Israelis and Germans civilians, police and soldiers, wearing military-style clothing.

The Daily News :

-The pope with new efforts favouring Christianisation.
-Turkey prefers to cancel the visite of the pope.

-Oriana Fallaci died today. The writer was discribing since years the danger of an Islamic invasion in Europe "Eurarabien", with her remarks she gained some enemies, murder threatening by Islamic organisations and jail term by the Italian Goverment for defamation of a religion.

-David Keating : "Aussenpolitik"
-Marc Aschenbrenner :"Lernen und Riechen"
-Emil Holmer : "Fleischwolf"
-Robert Bramkamp/Susanne Weirich : "Enki´s Longterm Emergency"

Overview of works :

Emil Holmer "Fleischwolf" :

Emil Holmer´s has brought two bukets, one filled with maggots the other with sugar. Hopefully after two days the maggots will have grown into flies and smell some sugar. The two bukets are connected with a tube dangeling in little loops up in the air and finding their highest point in a puppethead. The flies smelling the sugar have to pass by the puppethead in order to arrive at the sugar cubes.
The drawing according to the artist is representing the "Fleischwolf/Meatgrinder". His work is reffering to a newspaper article Fleischermord-Sie schlägt ihrem Mann den Kopf ab und kochte damit eine Gemüseeintopf/Butcher-killing- She shops off her husband´s head and cooks with it a vegetable stew.

David Keating "Aussenpolitik"
Beständig Unbeständig/Situation Not Situation

David Keating has picked a newspaper exerpt, foreign politics, discribing the unbalanced situation in Afganistan, how the Co-Allations try to stabilize Afganistan. On a second sheet he copies by hand the drawing and wiriting, translating as well the German into English.

Marc Aschenbrenner brings a drawing every day. Today he brought us "Learning and Smelling". We could definitly smell the freshly applied nail polish which covers in pea green almost the entire head of the learning person. The things we can learn are sticked to the head.

Retard : The function of "delay".

"Like an outgrowth, Retard works as the opposite of the logical and continuous movement activated through the concept of Emergency Room. While Emergency Room stimulates the artists to react in the urgency to the unceasing flow of information and images spread around by the medias and to challenge with this rhythm; Retard, by opposition, looks ironically like a museum exhibition space, in which objects and time seem to be fixed and arrested. By staging the museum functions of collecting, conserving and presenting objects, Retard set itself up as a parody and even as a critic of the artistic institution. With its duality, where metaphorically the past and the present are closed to each other, the concept of Emergency Room hijacks the common play/pause functions related to classical audiovisual material and medias. From there do we also feel the effects of a melancholic report of our helpless and powerless ability to change what already happened, and therefore remind us the necessity and the duty of acting right now.

Although it was already undertaken in Copenhagen, and now repeated during the Berlin experience, it is important to emphasize that Retard remains a parallel and optional aspect to the Emergency Room concept : its outgrowth in other words. Retard shows up an overview of works, selected by the Olaf Stüber Gallery team."

September 08th, 2006 : Day one.
Some Artworks.

Two video installations from Karin Kerkmann ("8 Jahre Lang"-left) and Rabea Eipperle ("Training for Stilletto Run"-right).

The videos of Karin Kerkmann is focusing on a very shocking hot spot of the last days news in Germany : the reapparition of Natascha Kampusch who was kidnaped and held in hostage during the last ten years. To express this event, Karin uses an old german childrensong as a symbol of the lost childhood :
Good evening, good night, covered with roses,
Stiched with flowers, slip under the blanket.
Tomorrow in the morning, if God wants, you will wake up again.

On her side, Rabea Eipperle decided to focus herself on the trivial event of the stiletto heels run that happened a couple of weeks ago, on the Kurfüstendammstrasse in Berlin, and which was a real worldwide curiosity.

Peter Lind : "The newsisnotthenews" (Media Art Installation mixing webcam views from the exhibition room with news images taken from the Internet and comments)

The intervention of Peter Lind is envolved with the ideas of distance/presence and simultaneity/delay linked to the ultrapresence of medias, and to the progress of their technological aspects. With a tricked computer that Peter created with the help of some Berlin hackers, he is now able to make a direct intervention on the projection, from Copenhagen or wherever he could be located in the world. While a web came is filming and watching on the "ER" exhibition room like George Orwell's Big Brother, Peter can mix those images in a fade away effect, with some news and pictures taken from the Internet.

Wolfgang Oelze : "In die Luft".

Frank Franzen : "Vegetarische Döner" / "Döner Mafia"
(Computer slide show and collage from newspapers articles)

From newspapers extracts and reportage pictures taken from the streets of Neuköln, Frank Franzen creates new connections between images and textes. He proposes us, under the form of a collage, a terrorist lecture of the "Gammelfleisch" business that hurted Berlin last week.

Tina Schimansky : "Ticker"
(Lightbox with picture from the web)

Alexander Negrelli : "Sticker"

Vassiliea Stylianidou : "The notion of 'Today'"
(Installation with black board and E-mails prints)

Marc Aschenbrenner : "The daily drawing"
(Drawing on paper)

As a participation to "ER", the Berlin based artist Marc Aschenbrenner proposed to bring us everyday a new drawing related to a spot from the actuality. Realised directly after reading the news, it is interresting to note that, like during the Renaissance, drawing remains for Marc Aschenbrenner the first and the most direct expression of art, as well as the most direct connection between the brain and the hand.

Azin Feizabadi : "http://www.azin.info / Archive for ER"

Sergei Sviatchenko : "No more news"

September 07th, 2006 : D-Day-1.

The organisation of the Emergency Room, and dinner time with Thierry Geoffroy/Colonel, Olaf Stüber, Frank Franzen (NL) and Peter Lind (DK).

EMERGENCY ROOM (Extract from the Manifest)
"Based on the observation that the visual artists is left out of the debate about actuality. I believe that it would be healthy for society to open up 'Emergency Rooms' in contemporary art institutions.
Such emergency spaces would give the artists the chance to visually comment on actuality - an opportunity to express his/her positions and visions about today (today understood as today without any delay).
The Emergency Rooms will be updated every day and will have the important concept of living at the same ultra fast speed of the news (and its consequences like new wars, ...)."
